I've had a few emails about the stand I built for my Plex, so here are some details. Actually, I fibbed a bit. I didn't really build it, I did the design and my friend Danny did the deed, as I didn't have the carpetry and other skills as well as some needed tools. It was designed around my EP-3, but the EP-2 will fit in it too.

It's basically a tray built out of 3/8" hardwood. You can use plywood if you want to. It wasn't built precisely, I just told Danny to build it a little bigger than the outside dimensions of the Echoplex so the air could circulate. I measured it and here are the inside dimensions:
  • 14 9/16" long
  • 8 1/8" deep
  • 2 3/4" high
The stand itself is an ordinary tripod microphone stand I shortened. You don't really have to do that, but the stand as it was I found to be a bit too high with the Plex sitting in it. So, I had Danny cut the bottom off so that when the inner pipe is fully reduced it was 26" high from ground to top. He then heated the bottom on the outer pipe where he had cut it and beat it with a ball peen hammer to re-add the flair that was cut off. The inner pipe is still extendable if I want the tray higher.

I drilled four holes in the bottom of the tray so the fan in the Plex wouldn't be starved for air. To attach the tray to the mike stand I used a female microphone flange you can get most anywhere. Some black paint and brass corners and there you are.

Here is the tray interior, you can see the ventilation holes and the T-nuts that hold the mike flange to the bottom of the tray. T-nuts are much stronger than just using screws.
The tray exterior, here you can see the mike flange that attaches the the stand.
And here is the stand with and without the Echoplex.
